Several years ago, I spent alot of money to work with a coach. And for the most part … the experience didn't measure up to what I hoped it would be. But in spite of it all, something extraordinary happened:
And I had to make money in my business. Fast. I had to get out of what I thought would work. What would be nice if it did work. What I dreamed would work. And apply what actually did work.
Funny how no money coming in does that for you. And I ended up applying two little things my mentor told me. Two very simple things. That in the years since have added over six-figures to my bottom line.
And I'm going to tell you exactly what they are.
But first … notice: I didn't say I had to sweat for months to understand some complex strategy so I could add six figures in profit. All I had to do were two simple things. In the exact sequence I had been told to.
Funny how for alot of us, that's too much. We beg and plead for someone to tell us what to do. "Just show me … and I'll do it! Stop giving me theory, and show me the steps! Just tell me … and I'll carry it out!" And when we are told … instead of doing it, we freelance. We put our little spin on it. Or totally ignore it and do what we want anyway.
Is it any wonder so many of us struggle?
Yes it would be great if the way you wanted it to work was the way it did work. But if that was true, you'd already be as successful as you want to be.
And right now, no matter what program you're in. What course you are taking. Or who you are coaching with … there is at least one tidbit of information staring you nakedly in the face. Right now. That would pay for itself a billion times over, if you only applied it.
(Well … maybe not a billion times. But close).
Simply unearth the ONE THING that would make the biggest difference in your business. And to milk it for all its worth.
For me it was actually two things. Very simple. That became my One Hundred Thousand Dollar A-ha:
A-ha Number One: You sell your product first. Then you create it.
This is the opposite of how most people do it. Which is why most people exhaust themselves creating products that ultimately don't sell.
Remember, I needed money fast. I didn't have time to create my 9-week masterpiece course and then sell it. So instead, I:
- Found out what people ACTUALLY wanted. (Rather than what I thought they SHOULD want).
- I created an outline of the product that made it irresistible. That delivered actual outcomes my prospects were already desperately searching for.
- I sold it to them.
- And THEN … I created the material … week-by-week. Over nine weeks. In the exact schedule I promised them in the sales page.
Some weeks I actually completed the material the night before I had to deliver it. But you want to know a secret? If people love your stuff, they don't care when you created it. Whether its 3 years before you deliver it. Or 3 minutes.
The problem is: I know scores of folks who burned themselves out because they put their heart and soul into creating a program no one wanted. Or put so much energy into creating their content, they didn't have any left to market it.
I avoided this trap by repeating the sell-then-create formula … over and over. With stunning success.
A-ha Number Two:
(The most lucrative discovery) was revealed during one of my mentor's Mastermind Retreats. "Look around the room", he said. "This is where your next hundred grand is going to come from." Meaning our next windfall wasn't going to come from one of our brilliant ideas. But from our relationships with the others in the room.
It was true. By the end of this year, my relationship with just one of the people in that room will mean a six figure difference in my business.
Think of it: The "Sell it, then create it" concept took 60 minutes to communicate. And the second secret took 30 seconds to deliver. Not big bells-and-whistles extravaganzas. But two simple, powerful concepts that anyone could apply.
So many times we miss our goldmine because we are trying to find some crazy scheme that somehow makes us feel we've discovered the holy grail.
Not very sexy. Not very new. Not very innovative. Or explosive. But oh so very, very profitable.
So the next time you're tempted to brand something as a failure … a course. A relationship with a mentor. Or even yourself. Stop and ask yourself: What is the six-figure a-ha staring me in the face right now? What would be possible if I stopped looking for the ten things that might make me successful? And instead discovered and implemented the one thing that WILL?
What could I accomplish if I stopped obsessing over what I wish would work … And simply did what does work?
So … what is that for you? What is your six-figure a-ha? Staring you in the face? That if refined and repeated … would finally give you massive momentum in your business?
